The internet is for judging

Well, in preparation for my oral surgery, I overate to excess at the end of the week last week. I took pictures, but admittedly was too embarrassed about how much I ate to want to post anything. I didn't want to be judged for my fat assness. Because let's face it, the internet exists to judge people.

I had my bone graft/little surgery on Monday. I'm still working on recovering. He warned me the swelling would be impressive, but good God. Impressive is an understatement. He failed to warn me that I would require antibiotics every 6 hours for a whole week, so that's been super fun. I have an alarm set on my phone so I don't miss any. I also take my pain meds at that time. It's been a lot more painful than I expected. It's totally manageable with pain meds, but you can't take those forever. I just ate some soup for dinner and now the pain has spiked again because opening my mouth, even to get a spoon in, sucks a lot. I'm not sure what else to do. I suppose I could straight up drink everything, but it's a sad life to eat without texture and/or chewing. I'm already bored with the diet I'm stuck with. Here's a series of swelling photos for your entertainment.

So, anywho, I've stocked up on soup. I made mediocre pudding. I've got applesauce. I bought some mousses from Walmart. Nothing is that appealing so I opted to get some French onion soup delivered from Panera tonight. I bought the sharing portion for $25 because a bowl was $10 and I wanted to get my money's worth. Well, pretty sure I didn't get my money's worth. They said it served 4 and I must say, you've gotta really hate your guests if you think you can get 4 servings out of this. Also $25 for this? Ridiculous.

Anyway, I've got a full OR day tomorrow, so it's off to bed early for me after I ice my fast some more.

Weigh-in Wednesday and a GI system recalibration

Today I was postcall, which means I came home filled with hopes of productivity and then napped instead. I took my mom's dog for a walk after I woke up to get some exercise in without going into an intense lactic acidosis with a harder workout since my GI system is slowly coming back to life and I didn't want to push it. I saw a dermatologist this afternoon and had some little vascular lesions on my nose buzzed and then came home and spent some time with the kiddos, had dinner, did bed time, and am now updating you, my adoring fans.

I also did a weigh-in today and am a bit disappointed that my GI distress didn't result in more of a loss.
0.4 pounds down from last weigh-in

Tomorrow I'm in clinic, which means I'm back to the walking pad, which should be good. It's at a 5% incline though (and isn't adjustable) and so I do get really sweaty when doing that workout. I've ordered a desktop fan to help with that. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, so here's hoping that I'll be less wet at work. < I'm leaving that statement right there because I think it's perfect and you will not tell me otherwise.

Today's eats:
Lunch

Other part of lunch

The oh shit, I'm hungry but I have somewhere to be protein

Same as above

Beef pot pie - it looks yummier not in its ziploc

Dessert - not from 2023, don't worry - this was probably an inappropriate test of my GI system

Let's see if I can keep up the food photos while working! And let's also hope I don't explode from drinking egg nog like an idiot.

Not so Great Wolf Lodge

Well, y'all did not pray hard enough for me. The kids would say they had a great weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge, but let me tell you, its ending was not great. It was the opposite of great: Shitty. You'll understand shortly.

This weekend, we all shared one room at the Lodge. Ironically, our next door neighbors and across the street neighbors also came to the Lodge. We spent a tiny amount of time with them, but they were the real MVPs this weekend. Because the kids and l shared the same room, I kept the same sleep schedule as the kiddos and let me tell you, that was amazing. Asleep at 8:30 pm and up at 6:30 am? No problem. 2.5 hour nap in the middle of the day? Sure thing. Asleep at 9pm and up at 7am? Would have been awesome if my GI system didn't go beserk at 2:30am. I woke up to horrific diarrhea, eventually started vomiting, and ended up calling on my neighbors to watch my kids so I could run to the pharmacy. My mom and Nasur ended up driving down to Colorado Springs so they could drive me and the kids back. My watched logged my whole morning as a high stress event and recommended I relax. Yes, relax. That would have been awesome. So, anyway, it was shitty. Mostly because the end of our trip ended so, so poorly. Solo parenting is hard at baseline and events like that make it feel like you can never quite get ahead. But, it also helps when you have awesome folks in your life to call on that will drop everything to help.

So, for today's food photo:
I've had 6 of these today

I actually got all my food photos taken today, lol! For this week's challenge, I'm going to try again to do food photos.

Here's hoping the diarrhea and vomiting will at least result in a net loss come this Weigh-in Wednesday!

Asparagus pee

This week was a long week. And I am so very tired. I do have food photos but I was mediocre again at taking them

Aaaaand that is literally it. So much noms that did not get photographed. But clinic was so busy and my brain was mirroring the weather today/was flurrying/was not working well. And I just want to be unconscious. So as I do one last asparagus pee before bed and blog on my phone, know that I'm barely functioning and am about to take the kids to Great Wolf Lodge solo. So, pray for me. And my kids. But mostly me.

Food Photo Fail

I did an absolute garbage job taking photos today. I was supposed to go and assist in a C-section this morning before clinic, but ended up canceling my morning of clinic to stay and assist with some additional emergent add-on cases and then go to clinic. It kind of threw my entire day off and I did a terrible job taking photos of my food. But, I did get a work out in and I did get some walking done on my walking pad. However, it felt like the day was just a constant rush. And as much as some folks understand emergencies happen, a lot of folks are just disgruntled that they were inconvenienced. But if I were unavailable during their emergent situation, they'd also be disgruntled. You can't win.

Breakfast: Burrito + unpictured banana

Refueled in the car

Cookie + one unpictured one + leftover tetrazzini for lunch

Dinner: Fruit + unpictured sub sandwich

Also not pictured: Fiber one bar + 2 more cookies + meat and cheese stick

In other news, this weekend I am taking the kids to Great Wolf Lodge solo. I've done this once before and it wasn't too bad, but it was summer so leaving the hotel was also very easy. The weather won't be nearly as friendly. Most of the areas South of me are prepping for a large dump of snow, so here's hoping my plan of a chill weekend isn't ruined by my kids!
