So, today was weird. Last night, I dreamt that my oldest friend and I lived in an apartment together and Venice was in our basement. We had water and gondolas and the whole nine yards. Then, I woke up at 6:45 to realize I hadn't set my alarm for 7:30, so I did that and went back to bed. Then I rushed through a shower and getting ready and was at the hospital at 8:15 for my next test: a small bowel follow through.
What is a small bowel follow through, you ask? Well, you get wear a sheer(ish) gown and have pictures taken of your abdomen while they literally watch radioopaque dye pass through your intestines. It's pretty much as sexy as it sounds. The dye tastes awful, the imaging is long (you get your abdomen irradiated every 15 minutes or so), and you do this for about 3 hours. Not my idea of a good time. Especially when I was told the test was a CT and that it'd be quick. I probably should have looked into it more myself than listened to my doctor's office assistant, who didn't exactly know anything about the procedure - mine was the first she'd ever scheduled.
I got to see my friend Allyson afterwards. She came over to show me her new (short!) hair cut. She decided that it was the time in her life to try something new and she cut off a lot of her hair, leaving her with a very cute pixie cut. We were both worried she'd regret it, but I definitely don't think she should.
Then it was back to GR so that I could attend class. On my way, I talked with Nasur (my boyfriend who lives in Uganda). He's planning on visiting in December, which is so so far away, but he finally has his passport, so we'll be booking his flights soon. That'll be nice since it'll mean he's really coming.
Class was mediocre at best. And then it was back home to further refine my procrastination skills. I did get some work done, but not a lot.
Anyway, my two accomplishments for today (besides not getting violently ill due to the contrast dye I had to drink), are this:
- I didn't get take out even though I was starving after not having eaten for 16 hours
- I set up a gym date for tomorrow morning so I am motivated to get in 1 of my 4 weekly workouts.
Tomorrow I'll include food photos. I know how much you like those. They'll probably be a bit pathetic since I really need to make a grocery run.
