This weekend was not super relaxing, given that I was on call. Again. I've done 5 calls in 2 weeks and it's killing me slowly. That being said, when I'm on call, I usually use that as an excuse to eat whatever because I'm too busy to contemplate food choices. These last few calls, however, I've been smarter about my food decisions. So, little victories!
Today was a postcall day, which was super needed as I was dying after being up most of the night. I came home, napped, got a massage, went to the park with the kiddos, did dinner, had our nightly walk, did bath time and bed time. Now, I plan to watch some TV and walk in place, mostly because that's all the energy I have to do anything.
Today's little victory was not eating all my french fries with my meal. When I drove home from the hospital this AM, I had a banana. Upon waking up from my nap, I ate some sliced deli ham and some cheese slices. When it was time for dinner, we opted to order some Greek food. They have really excellent gyros and their fries are fantastic. I was super hungry by the time it was time to eat, but I tried to drink a ton of water to fill up my tummy and eat slowly. I also didn't finish my fries. Not because I love to waste food, but because I didn't need to eat all of my fries. That was hard for me because, again, the fries are so good.
Tomorrow I'm in the OR. So I'm heading to get my steps in and get to bed early. I'm pooped. Weigh-in either tomorrow or Wednesday - get excited!
Any small victories we should be celebrating for you?
