Day 30/365: Emotional Eating

I haven't exactly been the best with my eating. I can get myself to about Wednesday or Thursday (if I'm lucky) and then all Hell breaks loose. So, today's weigh-in was no surprise.

Up 2.6 pounds from last week
I told myself I'd fast today and that'd help, but I was not in the mindset to fast. So, I snacked a bit at 10ish, did a C-section, and then opted to grab lunch. Down in the cafeteria, they were having some BBQ thing, so I got brisket, mac and cheese, cornbread, and coleslaw. Probably didn't need all of that, but at the time, I felt like I did. And after, I had two pretty big cookies. So, all in all, it was kind of a not lovely day. I don't really know why I decided to do that to myself. Probably because after sign out today, I had to see some of the most complicated patients on our service and I was feeling sorry for myself about my weight gain and having to fast. I don't really quite yet know how to separate feelings from eating. I'm working on it. I'm pretty good at reflecting on it after it's happened, but still not so great at getting myself in the moment.

In other news, I did feel pretty awesome in clinic today. I had a patient come in today to get an annual exam. She got up and gave me a huge hug and said she was so happy to see me. I cared for her while she was pregnant and had the privilege of delivering her cute little baby. It really touched me that she remembered me and that she said that she hoped she would be able to see me today.

After work, Nasur and I hit up the gym. I did the elliptical for my usual 45 minutes and have been adding on about 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill at about 8% incline. I'm hoping this help stretch out my hamstrings, which get mad tight after standing in one place during surgeries. And then we came home and made dinner together and listened to Moana songs. If you haven't seen it, you have to - I'm obsessed! The music's great and the story line is pretty solid too.

We made Pickle brined chicken tenders, which were really tasty, but that could be my bias because I love kosher deli pickles and you got a pretty good flavor of it. They were super easy to make! The only bad thing about them is that you pretty much have to wait until you eat an entire jar of pickles to have enough pickle juice to make them.

Anywho, I'm heading to bed shortly. See you tomorrow!

Today's breakfast: eggs, grapes, ham
These arrived today! Only 2 more weeks(ish) until my conference with Sara at Disney!
